1. The unit is a labor-hour/service call, not a product
Labor is almost always the leading category, and a single call can have NO material at all - just adjustment/calibration, with nothing replaced. Replacement parts (playing the role of material) are bought per SPECIFIC CALL, not by production batch as in manufacturing - no planned inventory, just buying exactly what that call needs.
2. "Rework" means something different: a redo caused by misdiagnosis, not a defective product
In manufacturing, rework means redoing a defective product before it ships. In maintenance, rework means redoing the SERVICE ITSELF because it didn't hold - the customer calls back due to a misdiagnosis or an installation that wasn't done right. Track the callback rate within the service warranty period separately - it's a quality signal about the maintenance crew, not about the customer's equipment.
Everything else
Material (replacement parts per specific call - see above). Machinery (diagnostic instruments/specialized test equipment - OWNED, rarely rented). Scrap/loss (essentially none, only meaningful when disassembly damages an old part meant to be reused). Consumables (welding rods, grinding discs, drill bits used on-site). Subcontracted work (specialist vendor service for proprietary equipment, calibration service for test instruments).
Packaging (essentially none). Freight (moving the crew and parts to the site - priced per trip, not by weight the way ordinary freight is). Overhead (service vehicles, spare-parts inventory holding).
